Winning the lottery. Wouldn't it be great and solve all your problems? Actually, NO! Here's what you should know about this and other get rich quick schemes that make big promises but don't deliver.
You probably have those friends who think their current direct-sale project is going to help make them rich. Or maybe it is that family member whose retirement plan is hoping they hit the lottery. The truth is get rich quick schemes are a lie! And, here's why...
You can't get out what you don't put in! If you plant an apple seed, will you get back pumpkins? If you deposit pennies, will you get back millions? It just doesn't work that way. The universal law of "you reap what you sow" doesn't just apply to farming or gardening.
In fact, it is the way the world is built. Every time you strive against this law, it is simply an exercise in futility.
Personal finances are 80% behavior and 20% math. Most people who win the lottery big end up ruining their lives. Money is an amplifier! Simply put, it amplifies the character of the one who holds it. If you're a jerk now, I'm sorry to say but you are going to be an even bigger jerk with more money. And, if you are irresponsible now, you are going to be even more reckless if you have wealth. Without good wealth habits already in place, more money will certainly lead to more problems.
Most get rich quick schemes pray on your emotions and lead you to something that is overhyped and unrealistic. It sounds so good, right?
A fool hastens to build wealth, but a wise man realizes you just can't skip the real process! Don't buy into the hype and put yourself in the position of the fool.
Luck really has nothing to do with it. Recognizing opportunities that come your way requires wisdom. Wisdom is only gained through experience and experience takes time; thus, get rich quick schemes typically pray on the uneducated and down and out of our society. You need to read, study, learn from others and know how to ask good questions because your ability to sniff out a con will be essential to not getting sold up the river.
The ultimate goal should be FINANCIAL FREEDOM! Financial freedom provides peace of mind and, while wealth can help with that, it just isn't the goal. Building wealth is a journey.
For example, look at the tortoise. He postured his life to be consistent over time and not only reached the end goal but finished well. Aiming to do just that isn't a bad idea! The ability to be content and manage what you have, no matter how much or how little, is where true riches lie and will help you find more money to fund your dreams.
